Physical Attraction, I believe in. Lust at first sight, I believe in. Love at first sight? Not a chance. Studies have shown that relationships that start as friends last longer. (I actually stumbled across that yesterday *snickers* So the poll is perfect timing) But you can't truly love somebody unless you know them. I've never seen somebody look at a movie poster for a movie they've never seen and say "I love that movie" I've heard "That looks great" And "I think I'll love that movie" but never "That's my favorite movie ever" It's the same for people. If you don't know um, you can't love um.
Furthermore, I also find it offensive when someone claims to love someone else based on looks alone. I can't imagine loving someone without knowing them well, and making sure their needs are compatible with mine, and that both of us can accept each other's flaws.
I absolutely don't. With both my boyfriends, and with the two other guys I was in love with when I was a kid, it took around 4 months to get to know them and fall in love.
I have had crushes "on first sight", but when I started learning about sexuality, I realised that those "crushes" were just me wanting to boink a guy.
So no, I cringe when people mistake horniness for love.
I believe in "infatuation at first sight". Love takes patience understanding, and above all, time. Whatever you're feeling when you first see someone can be attributed to your genitals.
I'm not exactly sure if I believe in love at first sight... Because in all truth I experienced something that might be considered love at first sight. A friend of mine set me up with my boyfriend (who has now been my boyfriend for over two years and things are going very well) and we both knew we wanted to be with each other from the first time we met. However, it's not that we didn't know each other before hand. We spent two months talking on the phone getting to know each other before we actually met. So it's not quite the same thing I guess. (and no I'm not some stupid teenager. I'm not in high school, and I'm also not a gushy romantic)
Who knows maybe it does exist? I know a few people who did just sort of see each other and then ended up getting together right away and worked out. Actually it happened to two people in my family. So really, who knows. It may just be this fluke that happens everyone once in while *shrugs*
No I don't, there has to be a reason to love someone. The reason doesn't exist when you first see that person unless your reason is based on attraction and I am not sure that would be called love...
